CRST Equipment Solutions
CRST Equipment Solutions keeps our fleet running safely and efficiently through expert sales, maintenance, and service support. The division is made up of specialized teams, each playing a critical role. Internal Maintenance handles repairs and preventative maintenance for company-owned equipment, while Independent Contractor Maintenance provides tailored support for owner-operators. External and Breakdown Maintenance minimizes downtime with roadside assistance and repair partnerships. Corporate Maintenance oversees fleet strategy, cost control, and maintenance programs. Equipment Sales and Purchasing ensures the right equipment is sourced and sold to meet fleet needs. Compliance and Licensing manage regulatory requirements, while Fuel optimizes efficiency and cost control. Together, these teams keep our fleet dependable and ready to serve customers across North America.
Compensation: $20/hr. to $26.00/hr.
Job Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers and vendors as they enter or call the shop in a professional and welcoming manner, answering questions, or solving problems as they arise
Schedule equipment repairs and service and communicate services with the Driver Manager electronically or verbally with the assistance of the Shop Foreman on duty
Discuss major issues with the Shop Foreman on duty
Maintain and update the Shop Planner and the communication screens of departmental software, always keeping the information current
Organize shop paperwork for the Shop Foreman

Our Roots
In 1955, Herald and Miriam Smith started Cedar Rapids Steel Transport out of a refurbished chicken coop they bought for $125.
At the time, they had no trucks and no customers, but Herald, known as “Smitty,” convinced firms he could save them money. He contracted with owner/operators who were hauling livestock to Chicago to return to the Cedar Rapids area with loads of steel instead of empty trucks.
