GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES:
Associate will be responsible for the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plant (65% of the time), Water Filter Plant (30% of the time), and Air Compressors (5% of the time).
KEY RESPONSIBLITES:
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a Wastewater Treatment Plant and all corresponding Waste Treatment equipment, including pumps, mixers, clarifiers, tanks, etc.
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a Sand Filter Plant and all corresponding Filter Plant equipment, including raw creek pump station, coagulators, settling tank, sand filters, and clearwells.
· Maintain an air compressor area by checking operation status and troubleshooting.
· Wastewater sampling and testing as required by the permit and company procedures (BOD, TSS, COD, ammonia, etc.).
· Pull, analyze, and/or ship wastewater treatment samples to the appropriate labs.
· Conduct rounds every four hours of the Wastewater Facility and Filter Plant. Rounds include, but are not limited to, pH, DO, pump speed, flow rate readings and overall condition of the Wastewater Facility and Filter Plant.
· Complete proper recordkeeping from rounds and daily operation.
· Assist in staying with environmental compliance with the Plant’s SCDHEC NPDES permit.
· Participate in Plant fire and environmental emergencies, by manning fire pumps, helping with security watches, or helping during spill response.
· Overall housekeeping of the Utilities area.
PAY RATES:
$19.85 / Hr. (D Level), subject to increase based on Biological Wastewater Operator License level.
The operator level is dictated by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation (LLR). The requirements include passing examination(s) approved by the licensing board and possessing the required specific work experience.
PPE REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION:
· Earplugs (when working in pump stations, within the manufacturing plant, or near the air compressors)
· Steel Toe, Slip Resistant, Waterproof Boots
· Gloves
· Safety glasses/goggles
· Life preserver when working around basins or the creek
REQUIREMENTS:
· Internal candidates must have excellent attendance be willing to work holidays due to the nature of the job requiring 365 days coverage.
· Associate must have a Mobile Equipment License or willingness to train.
· Associate must be willing to work outside in unfavorable weather conditions.
· Associate will need to have at least moderate mechanical aptitude.
· Associate must be able to climb ladders.
· Associate must participate in plant safety process.
· Associates must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License to drive company vehicle on site.
· Ability to perform tasks requiring physical exertion.
· Ability to read and follow written instructions.
· Ability to create and review written procedures.
· Math skills including algebra; calculations of area, volume, and concentrations; unit conversations; and problem solving.
· Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and within time constraints.
· Ability to prioritize and handle multiple responsibilities.
· A positive attitude.
· Ability to be flexible, learn new things, and adapt to change; ability to learn things independently.
· Good communication skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
· Biological Wastewater Operator License.
· Previous mechanical maintenance experience.
· Experience with MS Word and MS Outlook.
· Basic understanding of pumps, mixers, pH, sampling techniques, chemical feed systems, and lab equipment.
