The Human Resources Director leads the HR function for the Valeron Strength Films division which consists of 1 US and 1 international location. Reporting to the Vice President/General Manager (VP/GM), the Human Resources Director is responsible for a wide range of functions including: HR Strategy, Organization Design & Effectiveness, Talent Management/Employee Development, Compensation, Employee Relations, HR Policies & Procedures, HR legal compliance and Company Culture. Ensures HR strategy aligns with business plans and strategic objectives
Human Resource Management
Effectively manage all areas of the HR function in Houston from managing daily and tactical tasks to effectively leading the strategic elements such as workforce planning, morale/culture, change management and risk mitigation.
Establish and execute annual talent management cycle
Initiate, support, and drive change, as needed throughout the business
Revise and/or create, implement, and effectively communicate human resource or people related processes and policies
Interpret, report, and manage compliance with the applicable state/country laws and regulations
Fosters continuous improvement by analyzing processes, monitoring effectiveness, and identifying actions to reduce complexity and/or enhance operational performance.
Utilizes data to drive decisions and ensure accurate recordkeeping/data integrity is maintained. Oversees the management of all leaves of absences including FMLA, parental leave, short term/long term disability, and worker’s compensation.
Effectively understand and contribute to Valeron’s Long Range Plant Priorities including an increasing focus on commercial excellence and organic growth.
Talent Acquisition
Develop and execute recruitment strategies for exempt and non-exempt roles
Proactive and regular review of non-exempt workforce planning needs to ensure staffing levels meet production needs
Engaged with local and division leadership regarding employee needs within plant and division
Execute Valeron’s recruitment process; partner with managers and lead all phases of the recruitment process
Training & Development
Manage the identification and development of "High Potential" and Early in Career employees, working with management and corporate leaders for intentional development
Identify, design, and deliver training and mentoring programs that promote employee development and engagement
Non-Exempt: Production Employee Training solutions
Exempt: ITW Business Model Education, Leadership & Management Foundations
Managerial courage to identify and coach managers and/or leaders in real time
Manage performance review process for all employees, including performance issues of individuals and teams
Employee Relations
Facilitate, counsel and coach employees and managers to resolution regarding employee relations
Builds and drives employee engagement strategies
Partner w/Operations Leadership, VP/GM and Essen HR Generalist to define CLA (local union) negotation strategy
Oversee FMLA, STD and LTD administration, leveraging Site HRG and Corporate HR as needed
Personally manages complex or significant employee relations issues
Analyzes employment-related concerns, patterns, and business needs to proactively develop and implement action plans to address pervasive issues.
Balances legal exposure with business outcomes. Consults with ITW Corporate Employee Relations department as required.
Compensation & Benefits
Coordinate compensation review process for promotions, merit increases and bonus plans
Develops and administers job evaluations, salary ranges and annual merit review programs, using relevant market data as needed to maintain competitiveness.
Collaborates with VP/GM and Controller on annual bonus programs and ITW Corporate compensation department.
Serve as backup to Site HR Generalists to manage and oversee bi-weekly payroll processing
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field
Minimum of 8 - 10+ years of progressive HR generalist experience, preferably with at least one previous HR leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
Experience working in a business that has demonstrated commercial best practices, success and revenue growth preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary
Willing to travel both domestically and internationally less than 25% of the time
Excellent project management skills, ability to exercise independent judgment and work well independently or in a team
High level of intellectual curiosity with ability to find problems and provide solutions
Strategic thinking with ability to accelerate and influence change
