We manufacture high-performance Holographic, Decorative Transfer, and TTR products for the Packaging, Coding, and Lottery markets.

ITW ShineMark employees ~300 people the US (2 sites), Canada, UK, and South Korea.

The Technical Manager is a key leadership role within the division responsible for leading the technical team to research technology and to develop solutions to facilitate growth in holographic and metallic cold transfer markets and other areas aligned with the strategic priorities of ShineMark.

Provides hands-on leadership, direction, mentoring, and collaboration specifically related to functional polymeric coatings, our most significant core competency.
Primary responsibility for the development of new products, cost improvement, quality improvement, and talent development.
Follows the Customer Back Innovation approach, collaborating with Sales on to gain solid understanding of market and customer needs to create unique solutions that solve difficult technical challenges and improve business performance.
Create and develop a collaborative and motivated team of professionals through clear goal-setting and providing candid feed-back.
Collaborates with the Technical Team in South Korea on various cost and development projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety

Hazard Evaluation and Reduction
Training and Communication

Product Maintenance:

Supply Chain

Maintain vendor/supplier relationships.
Component redundancies/dual sourcing.

Cost Improvement

Primarily material cost management and other variable cost where applicable.

Change Management

Process and material changes-cost, quality, reliability, availability, sustainability.
Internal and external validation/qualifications.
Customer or market backed adjustments to product performance/reliability

New Product Development:

Involvement and collaboration with CBI and stage gate process

Coordination of the local technical team with Divisional initiatives.

Monitor, recommend, and test new materials, processes, and technologies.

Quality Control and Assurance:

SOP/SOC
Establishes quality control standards on existing and new products
Continuous Improvement of product quality.
Customer Complaint/Concern Management.
Interfaces directly with customer in person, verbal, or written to determine root cause of complaints and validate corrective actions in a timely manner.
Aggregate complaint information for input into NPD.
Statistical/Analytical monitoring of internal test data and process conditions to maintain reliability and provide basis for improvement.
Directs the activities of the Quality Supervisor.

Process: (coating solution preparation, coating application, and drying)

Leads process changes, including qualification plans (internal and external).
Leads continuous improvement of processes for quality, reliability, or cost.

Talent Management:

Cultivate and reinforce a culture of collaboration, engagement, and creative problem solving.
Develop a pipeline of talent for future leaders of the organization and to maximize skills to achieve Full Potential
Consistently leverage the ITW 80/20 model to set clear priorities for his/her team and hold them accountable for delivering results on ‘80’ objectives
Effectively coach team through regular and timely feedback, development planning, and performance management.

Required Competencies

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering Relevant technical experience in polymer chemistry and web coating. 

Leadership and project management experience. 

Beneficial Competencies

Process experience: Printing, hot stamping, cold foiling, holographic origination, embossing, laminating.
