Summary
This position is responsible for all shop functions including leading and directing the daily tasks of the Service Technicians to complete customers’ maintenance and repair needs. This position ensures all work is performed to original equipment manufacturers specifications and performance.

Minimum Qualifications
Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Must have 2-5 years of experience in a supervisory position in a shop environment.
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a “hands-on” heavy truck and trailer technician.
Proven service background and knowledge of medium/heavy duty market.
Organize, schedule and monitor work flow for on-time completion and quality control.
Work with the Director of Operations in annual preparation of the shop budget plan.
Knowledge of a service shop P&L statement.
Assist in greeting customers, selling service labor, writing repair orders and estimates the cost of repairs within set guidelines.
Inspect and, if necessary, road test vehicles upon completion of work to ensure quality of repairs performed.
Manage labor productivity
Track budget expenses
Must be able to deal with complex issues.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in dealing with customers and internally with technicians
Must have strong customer service skills
Must have good basic computer knowledge and skills; MS Office, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Excellent leadership abilities
Must have demonstrated problem solving skills
Experience in completing performance evaluations and writing performance improvement plans when needed.
Must be able to attend offsite training when assigned.
Must be willing to work extra hours (if needed) for vendor training and annual inventory count.
Successfully pass background check, drug screening, DMV check, numbers aptitude test and post offer physical assessment/lift test.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with no more than 3 points.
Supervisory Responsibilities
7 to 15 Service Technicians and Repair/Fabrication Technicians
Essential Functions
Manage overall functions of the service drive in facilities and repair shop.
Ensure and inspect all work is performed to original equipment manufacturers specifications and performance.
Personal inspection of work is a must for each job prior to the release of vehicle.
Must be able to work with customers in identifying repair needs.
Maintain pricing profile for service shop to include parts and labor.
Control and approve outside purchases of expenses for service shop with approval of the Director of Operations.
Must be able to train, direct and educate repairs of equipment.
Asset and facility management.
Increase efficiency and proficiency.
Maintain cleanliness of service shop daily disposal of hazardous materials in compliance with local and state laws
Schedule monthly safety meetings ensuring all personnel and the shop is in compliance with OSHA regulations.
Maintain MSDS sheets for items used within the service shop area.
Must be able to interview, train and select qualified technicians
Work with Human Resources department to determine training needs of the service department personnel.
Conduct timely performance evaluations for shop staff and conduct individual meetings to discuss goals, objectives and opportunity for growth within the company.
Work with Outside Sales, Sales Manager and Branch Managers to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands
The performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move heavy items up to 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.
Travel
Some travel may be required for the company’s annual sales meeting and to the local branches and training classes as needed.
