Intern, High Voltage Shop

Job Description

This position is responsible for supporting multiple aspects of the campus high voltage distribution and maintenance as well as electrical reliability of campus chill water and steam plants. This position supports physical and digital infrastructure needs, capital improvements planning, and department infrastructure updates. 

Reporting to the High Voltage Operations and Maintenance Manager , this position sits in Columbus, OH is eligible for a hybrid work schedule.

What you’ll do:

Document and update campus HV system drawings and develop an organized repository for existing and future drawings
Document new and existing campus HV distribution equipment and develop an organized data repository 
Update HV preventive maintenance planning and tracking 
Collaborate with program managers and the operations controls team to support capital investment projects

What you bring:

Must be currently enrolled at Ohio State University
Must be at least a junior or senior working toward a Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business field from an accredited institution, particularly in Electrical Engineering.  
Must possess a 3.0 GPA or higher & be able to work at least 10 hours per week 
Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks
Strong-interpersonal skills and self-motivated 
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally 
Knowledge of general procurement processes or business principles 
Experience with the software included in the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred, particularly word processing, spreadsheets and database programs
Experience with AutoCAD is also beneficial but not required

Work environment includes a blend of indoor office setting and some outdoor site visits and walk throughs during construction phase

Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
