Job Description

Our client, a leader in emergency medical care is seeking a 10 plus years Labor & Employment attorney to support their dynamic and nimble legal department. The Associate General Counsel of Labor and Employment will be responsible for overseeing legal support for the company’s labor, employment and employee benefits functions. The Labor & Employment Counsel will provide guidance and legal advice to the leadership team and the business. The Associate General Counsel will work closely with HR and will report directly to the General Counsel. Responsibilities would include; Monitors statutory and other legal developments related to labor, employment and employee benefits, Prepares and reviews labor and employment policies, Ensures employment policies by working closely with the EPL carrier, Develops and implements labor and employment law training programs, Examines trends nationally, and within the organization, on labor and employment matters, Maintains constructive, professional relations with third parties, including regulators, Manages outside counsel handling claims, charges and litigation, Participates in labor contract negotiations, Monitors and develops contract proposals, Prepares, reviews and interprets collective bargaining agreements and maintains the company’s collective bargaining agreement database, Assists with strike preparedness planning, Supports administering labor grievance procedures, and also Helps with union-free activities as necessary. The Labor & Employment Counsel advises HR and management on employment laws, including recruiting, hiring, benefits, compensation, performance, discipline, terminations, internal investigations, leaves of absence, employee relations, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour compliance, contingent worker matters, regulatory compliance and employment risk management and benefits. The Labor & Employment Counsel prepares or reviews employee separation agreements and responds to attorney letters involving employment claims or concerns. JD degree required from an accredited U.S. law school. Licensed to practice law in any US jurisdiction, preferably authorized to practice as in-house counsel in Texas or Colorado. 10+ years practicing law as a labor/employment attorney with extensive knowledge of federal, state and local labor and employment laws. Most recent 7 plus years practicing in Labor & Employment Law in house is required with prior 3+ years in private practice at a large regional or national law firm. Experience with both the NLRA and RLA preferred. Requirements

- Must possess analytical, legal research and writing skills

- Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well

- Licensed attorney with 10+ years of experience

- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high-pressure environment, to prioritize client matters and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent through each task performed

- Above-average academic credentials and references

- Employment Policies experience highly valued

- Unemployment Hearings experience desired

- Prior experience with Employment Litigation

- Practical knowledge of Federal Labor Law

- Previous experience working with Employment Discrimination

- Earlier work involving Employment Decisions

- Unemployment Claim experience preferred

- Expertise in employee employment law

- Commercial Contracts experience highly preferred

- Experience with Pre-employment

- General familiarity with labor law

- Background working with Commercial Contracts

- Solid understanding of employment law

- Good understanding of Age Discrimination Employment Act

- Hands-on experience with Pre-employment Processes

- Adeptness in employer employment law

- Experience with Federal Employment Law

- Proficiency in Local Employment Law

- Demonstrated knowledge of Labor Employee Relations

- Expertise in Unemployment Compensation

- Comprehension of Equal Employment Opportunity compliance

- Applicable Employment Law experience

- Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
