Permian Basin Overview

ConocoPhillips and its heritage companies have operated in the Permian Basin for almost 100 years. Across New Mexico and Texas, the company holds conventional positions in the Northwest Shelf and Central Basin Platform, and an unconventional position in the Delaware Basin. Permian saw significant growth in 2021 with the acquisition of Concho Resources Inc. in January 2021 and the addition of Shell’s Permian acreage in December 2021. At year-end, the company held approximately 1.5 million net acres in the Permian Basin.

Net production for the Permian in 2022 was 461 MBOED.

Description

As the Instrument & Electrical Engineering Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design, installation of instrument, control, and electrical systems within our organization. You will lead a team of talented engineers and advisors, ensuring the highest level of performance and efficiency in engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include planning, organizing, and coordinating engineering activities, managing resources, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Responsibilities may include:

Team Leadership:

Supervise, mentor, and guide a team of engineers and advisors specializing in instrumentation, controls, and electrical engineering.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, promoting continuous learning and skill development.
Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations.
Identify and assist in development of standardization of processes and policies.

Project Management:

Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects related to instrumentation, controls, and electrical systems, ensuring they meet quality, safety, and regulatory and corporate standards.
Work with I&E Engineers to develop project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans.
Work with execution team to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Instrumentation and Control Systems:

Oversee design of instrumentation and control systems.
Collaborate with other engineering departments and stakeholders to integrate control systems into larger projects.

Electrical Systems:

Manage the design and installation of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and motor control systems
Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations

Basic/Required:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
Current/Valid Driver's License
5+ years of experience in I&E including Instrumentation, Electrical, SCADA, end devices, process & equipment controls, telecommunications equipment, etc
3+ years of direct experience reading instrumentation and electrical diagrams
1+ year of experience working with high voltage power systems and electrical power generation including switchgear and motor starters
Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to travel 20% of the time on a yearly basis

Preferred:

Master's degree or Professional Engineering License preferred
5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
Proficiency in relevant software tools, PLC programming, and control system design
Takes ownership of actions and follows through on commitments by holding others accountable and standing up for what is right
Delivers positive results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
Builds effective solutions based on available information and makes timely decisions that are safe and ethical
