The Siemens Digital Industries Software (DI SW) Chief Information Security Office (CISO) is looking for a highly skilled and motivated Software License Compliance Lead to join our team. As the Software License Compliance Lead, you will play a critical role in ensuring our organization's adherence to software license agreements and compliance with relevant licensing regulations. You will collaborate closely with various teams, including software development, product security, procurement, and legal, to establish and maintain a robust software license compliance program. Responsibilities
The person in this role, will be leading license compliance personnel, to:
Develop and implement a comprehensive software license compliance framework to ensure adherence to software license agreements and regulations.
Conduct regular audits and assessments of software licenses to identify any non-compliance issues and mitigate associated risks.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as software development, procurement, and legal teams, to ensure proper licensing practices are followed throughout the software development lifecycle.
Stay up to date with licensing regulations, industry best practices, and software vendor requirements to ensure compliance and recommend necessary changes to policies and procedures.
Provide guidance and training to internal teams on software license compliance, including license management, usage tracking, and renewal processes.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with software vendors and negotiate license agreements to optimize compliance and minimize costs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for software license audits, managing the process, responding to vendor inquiries, and ensuring timely resolution of any non-compliance issues.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to streamline software license management and compliance activities.
Prepare reports and metrics related to software license compliance for management and other relevant stakeholders.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
In-depth knowledge of software license compliance requirements and regulations, including a strong understanding of various licensing models (e.g., perpetual, subscription, open source).
Experience with software license management tools and systems.
Familiarity with software asset management (SAM) practices and methodologies.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address license compliance risks.
Strong negotiation and relationship management skills to engage with software vendors and optimize licensing agreements.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple software licenses and agreements simultaneously.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Proficient in conducting license audits and assessments.
Experience in developing and implementing license compliance training programs.
Proven record of accomplishment of successfully managing license audits and resolving compliance-related issues.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
10+ years professional experience in software license compliance, investigating license compliance events.
3+ years virtual team leadership experience
Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
Solid understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
Familiarity with licensing regulations and industry standards, such as the Business Software Alliance (BSA) and Software Asset Management (SAM) best practices.
Strong knowledge of licensing agreements, terms, and conditions.
Proficient in using software license management tools and systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
