Job Description
Utility Assistant - GSC Shops (Subs/Transformer Repair)
Alabama Power Company, a subsidiary of Southern Company, is seeking job candidates to fill full time job openings in the Birmingham area. These are entry level laborer positions that offer career progression to most journeyman level jobs. This position involves supporting those who are repairing and reconditioning all major equipment, while maintaining the spare transformer fleet.
CANDIDATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
High School diploma or equivalent is preferred (2 year Technical Degree)
2 Years Construction, Maintenance, or Electrical experience is required.
Able to perform physically demanding activities while working outside in all conditions
Ability to operate all equipment (forklifts, cranes, shop machines) while demonstrating safe work practices associated with all construction and maintenance work functions.
To be considered for an interview, candidates must pass a pre-employment written assessment (CAST) and a Physical Skills Pre-Employment Test
Military Background /Or Associate Degree In Industrial Electricity Is a Plus
