Eli Lilly and Company seeks Manager, Business Operation to be responsible for negotiating complex contracts to support drug development and related oncology pipeline development needs, including custom scientific engagements with third parties, material transfer, and collaboration agreements.  Work with biology and chemistry discovery, translational medicine, biologics, pre-clinical, legal, and finance teams to help draft, negotiate and manage contracts in support of drug development and related oncology pipeline development needs. Identify and mitigate business risks throughout the contracting process including for sensitive confidential information and privacy. Help manage projects resulting from these contracts, including working with partners and contract research organizations to track contractual work products and deliverables as well as financial and resource obligations. Act as alliance manager for relationships as needed. Act is line manager within the Business Operations organization as needed. Act as line manager within the Business Operations organization as needed.  Telecommuting permitted.  Must reside in the Stamford, CT area to be able to be on-site as needed. Reports to the Stamford Office.

Position requires PhD in Biological Science, Applied Life Sciences or related and two years of experience in business development and contract negotiations in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry or related. Must have work experience in: experience with the US and EU Data Privacy requirements and their application to oncology product development; experience in negotiating contracts with diverse groups spanning various cultures, time zones and languages; experience in collaborating across highly matrixed organizations and managing internal and external stakeholders; experience with discovery biology, target discovery technology, chemistry and scientific principles for small molecule and large molecule R&D projects to support a thorough understanding of contract requirements; experience in identifying business risks throughout the contracting process and working with transactions and intellectual property legal teams in drafting language for mitigation.
