We are hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer in our First Class Seating team. The candidate will be responsible for devising solutions for complex technical problems by applying advanced technical principles and concepts along with a multi-disciplinary approach. This person will serve as a spokesperson on advanced projects, act as an advisor to the engineering community and management, mentor other engineers and provide input for new work/proposals in the area of expertise.

Primary Responsibilities:

Design ownership of product life-cycle including initial concept through production and product support.
Design mechanical components and assemblies with an emphasis on manufacturability, reliability and maintainability.
Perform engineering calculations to determine the size and strength of components. Solve design problems and check computations contributing to analytical designs.
Prepare, modify and release drawings created in CAD (Siemens NX) to verify fit, form and function of mechanical designs.
Verify structural acceptability of designs by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through dynamic crash testing.
Utilize engineering tools such as FMEAs, FEA and DFMA to validate design content.
Evaluate materials and parts for use in new designs including communicating with current and new suppliers.
Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions and participate in design reviews.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations or equivalent experience and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced Degree in a related field.
Must be a US Citizen

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercial aircraft seating products is a plus.
Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
Familiarity with FAA requirements a plus.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite.  Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.
