What’s a typical day as a Supervisor Melt/Pouring Operations? You’ll be:
As a variable shift Supervisor – Melt/Pouring Operations for the John Deere Foundry located in Waterloo, IA, you will schedule iron flow from charge material to liquid metal while supervising a team of individuals. 

In addition, you will:

Perform ductile and gray iron recipe and chemistry calculations
Manage the iron ?ow from melting iron in coreless furnaces, holding iron in induction furnaces and then pouring into molds via vertical channel pouring furnaces or pouring cars
Execute strategic department initiatives, weekly schedules, and daily plans
Manage employees and keep them accountable for their actions regarding Safety, Quality, Delivery and E?ciency

What Skills You Need

Excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment
Experience with, or supporting, shop ?oor manufacturing and/or warehouse operation  
Demonstrated team leadership skills
Experience communicating across functions (such as: supply management, engineering, operations, and human resources)
Ability and ?exibility to work across variable shifts based on production needs

What Makes You Stand Out

Experience with continuous improvement pay plans (CIPP)
Experience with wage/union employee policies, practices, procedures, and work rules
Experience in leadership or supervision of a union workforce
Working knowledge of the CI continual improvement process and 5S
3 or more years of experience in a coreless melt furnace, preferably with medium frequency furnaces
Experience in induction furnaces
Experience with refractory related practices in an iron foundry
Chemistry control experience in a gray and ductile iron foundry

Education

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor’s degree in Metal Casting, Business, or similar discipline, or four or more years’  relevant work experience
