Job Description

Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking a Manager, Safety & Industrial Hygiene Services to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.

This Manager is responsible for the planning, scheduling, organizing, and managing of safety and industrial hygiene services and staff for assigned facility(s) or functional areas.

Plans, schedules, organizes, and manages safety and industrial hygiene (IH) support for assigned facilities/functions related to large facilities and complex operations
Performs hands-on activity-level support
Cultivates and maintains close working relationship with senior management and operational management to ensure safety and IH services are being properly executed and meet company needs
Instructs employees on work methods and performance expectations including, but not limited to, assigning and prioritizing work tasks; establishing and maintaining support schedules; providing leadership, guidance, and mentoring; training for enhanced field support; job performance appraisals; and resolving issues
Oversees subcontractors and service vendors
Recommends, evaluates, and implements policies, programs, and procedures for monitoring, preventing, and mitigating hazards (e.g., chemical, biological, and physical)
Oversees safety and IH monitoring programs, procedures, hazard analyses, work package reviews, and assessments to ensure compliance with regulations (e.g., 10 CFR 851, OSHA, ACGIH, EPA, state requirements), contract requirements, and company procedures
Maintains documentation and prepares detailed reports that interpret technical safety and IH data, including baseline data, employee exposure, sampling, and hazard controls
Incorporates new and/or advanced technical processes and practices to solve problems and address complex technical requirements, including application of new or special materials
Ensures full investigation of near miss events, accidents, injuries, and employee concerns related to hazards, including input to established databases
Evaluates the results of investigations, audits, assessments, sampling, monitoring, etc., and prepares technical reports and improvement recommendations
Develops and delivers presentations to staff up through senior management
Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and experience related to the duties outlined in the job description

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a technical discipline such as Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) and/or Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Understands and applies advanced safety and IH theories, concepts, and methods, In depth knowledge of related disciplines
Previous project management and leadership experience
