Job Duties and Responsibilities
DISH intends to radically disrupt the Wireless industry landscape, and is in search of a Power Systems Engineer to provide support to our market field teams through all aspects of construction activities. As part of the DISH Wireless Process and Standards Team, the Power Systems Engineer will act as the in-house power expert for Dish Wireless. The Power Systems Engineer will have considerable input in defining Dish’s power strategy and execution as we build out our 5G network. This will include evaluating current and planned power systems, evaluation of power related to our OEM equipment, and being an expert on future power related technologies. In addition, the Power Systems Engineer will have a “team-player’ mentality and exhibit the willingness to take on other responsibilities as needed to ensure the overall success of the 5G Network deployment.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Develop requirements around power consumption for Dish Wireless telecommunication equipment
Evaluate power systems and solutions for Dish Wireless cellular sites
Calculate loads and draws of Dish equipment at various levels to determine appropriate solutions as it applies to standard power, backup power, and any sustainability projects related to power
Act as electrical expert in product evaluations
Create site level designs, in conjunction with the rest of the site engineering team, to optimize power usage through Dish Wireless sites
Work with Dish internal teams to optimize the electrical portions of product assembly
Create process documentation related to installation and manintenance of power systems and related products
Provide recommendations for Dish Wireless’ future power strategy with an understanding of future technologies, including sustainability and power storage and redistribution
Thorough understanding of National Electric Code and knowledge of, or ability to understand, local electric codes and impact on Dish Wireless sites
Capable of writing and facilitating test plans and interpreting data to make sound conclusions.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
A successful Power Systems Engineer will have the following:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
3-6 years of electrical engineering experience focusing on power systems, preferably in a telecommunications environment
Ability to effectively communicate and interact with leadership team, departmental staff, and external teams in a courteous and professional manner
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans and specifications
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Background in all, or some, of the following areas are a plus: Microwave, cellular, backfill transmission designs, telecom construction/design
