The Lilly Professional Apprenticeship Program is a  13-month (fixed duration employee) program for people without a 4-year degree. As a Lilly Professional Apprentice you will receives a combination of formal training, on-the-job learning, and mentoring in a key functional area to be equipped to compete for a Lilly position after successful completion of the apprenticeship. Upon successful completion of the program, apprentices will have the opportunity to advance their careers, including consideration for full-time positions at Lilly.

Responsibilities:

The Legal Operations team provides support to the Lilly Legal department through strategic initiatives that drive efficiency within department. The Legal Operations team focuses on the implementation of best practices, streamlined processes, and utilizing metrics to make informed decisions.  The Legal Operations Apprentice will primarily support the finance and vendor management team; however, additional responsibilities and cross functional support will be assigned as needed.

Assist with the enrollment process of law firms and legal vendors, including contracting and E-Billing.

Collaborate with the team to process map the review of legal matter budgets and forecasts.

Maintain accurate record keeping for vendor submissions and reconcile those submissions against vendor contracts.

Assess and improve the electronic files through the life of legal vendor management Lifecyle.

Support Legal Operation initiatives by implementing best practices, streamlining processes, and utilizing metrics to inform the Legal Ops Leaders to make informed decisions. 

Create and maintain filing legal matters and vendor records across legal technology platforms;

Prepare inquiries related to contracts, billing, or vendor management for team review.

Schedule and coordinate meetings with internal Finance and other teams to resolve payment issues, as needed.

Draft spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to record vendor process.

Support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives with Lilly Legal’s external vendors.

Additional responsibilities and cross functional support will be assigned as needed.

Basic Requirements:

HS Diploma or Equivalent and 3 or more years of related or professional experience. 

At least 1 year of college and/or associate degree in a related field.

Additional Preferences:

Proven experience with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Strong self-management and organization skills

Demonstrated attention to detail

Effective written and verbal communication skills

Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

Ability to work well in a team environment

Experience with Microsoft Office

Desired experience working in or with law firms or corporate legal departments
