Job Description

Leads and executes the day to day accounting and analysis activities which may include the Refinery’s financial planning, capital budgeting, cost accounting, expense budgeting, problem resolution, internal and external audit coordination, Solomon reporting, managing complex agreements, financial and statistical reporting and strategy development.

Prepares daily analysis, which may include the Refinery’s financial planning, capital budgeting, cost accounting, expense budgeting, internal and external audit coordination, financial and statistical reporting, and/or strategy development.

Works with Project Engineering, Key Maintenance representatives, local Planning & Economics, Corporate Planning & Economics, Marketing & Supply and Refinery Operations groups as needed.
Applies knowledge to solve problems across departmental lines.

Prepares ad hoc analysis as requested by refinery and headquarters customers to aid in budget stewardship.
Assists other refineries and business units with ad hoc analysis as requested.
Prepares refinery financial forecasts, results of operations, capital budget and expense budgets, prepares analysis of variances to plan, Solomon survey preparation, turnaround stewardship and planning, preparation of various financial and operating reports, onsite controls management, inventory management, headquarters accounting close support, and budget management support.

Manages accounting, develops and monitors controls and coordinates transactions to record effects of complex agreements such as steam, refinery gas and electricity sales. Resolves differences between internal and external parties per contract terms and prepares accounting transactions as needed.
Provides guidance and direction to other staff; handles and resolve complex accounting issues as a subject matter expert.
Back-up Refinery Controller as needed.
Follows safety rules and procedures as set forth by the company.

This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or higher-level degree in Accounting required.
8 years of accounting experience required.
CPA certification preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience in the refining industry and/or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
Ability to be geographically mobile preferred.
Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
Thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, theories, and ability to apply them to the Corporation's accounting needs required.
Strong analytical skills required.
Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation.
Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications.
Skill in providing thorough, efficient, and effective customer service to individuals at all levels within the organization.
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods.
Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes.
Ability to cross-train in other department duties to ensure efficient coverage department responsibilities.
Ability to work with others to accomplish challenging assignments.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple assignments to ensure completion of tasks within stated time requirements.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel).
