Software Quality Engineers at Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control act as an integrated member of the design and production teams supporting System Engineering, Software Engineering, Test Engineering and Software Suppliers. They perform process and product assessments, review requirements, hardware and software design, code, and documentation.
To ensure our customer gets the highest level of Quality, our Software Quality Engineers review contracts, customer requirements, flow down requirements to suppliers and witness testing events to ensure requirements are fulfilled.
In a culture of continuous improvement our department utilizes lean initiatives to reduce waste and drive affordability and efficiency. Working with an integrated team which includes customers, suppliers and other functional personnel, issues are identified, reviewed, and resolved in a timely manner.

The Software Quality Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Develops, modifies, and applies quality principles to the development and use of software and software-based systems for make and / or buy software products
Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives
Designs and implements software development and maintenance processes; defines audit strategy to ensure compliance to systems/software processes
Designs, specifies, and conducts test methods for software inspection, verification, and validation
Evaluates and analyzes software quality systems for deficiency identification and correction
Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards
Performs software product reviews against contractual, technical and/or process requirements
Reviews requirement specifications, design documents, source code, test plans and procedures, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies
Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability
Travel may be required to support program activities
Basic Qualifications:
Technical degree at the Bachelor level or above, preferably in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering
Must have an Interim Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain a Full Secret clearance
Demonstrated basic understanding of audit techniques
Software Quality or Engineering experience in Requirements Analysis, Product Integration and Test
Ability to interpret software design and code (C/C++) to verify implementation of requirements
Test Equipment Hardware knowledge or background skills
Proficient skill level with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Ability to travel
Desired Skills:
ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) and / or other quality disciplines
SAP experience
Ability to lead/motivate a cross functional IPT
Effective communication skills, i.e., written, oral, listening, presentation and technical writing
Knowledge of Industry recognized Quality systems / models such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI), International (ISO), aerospace (AS), and FAA regulation
Lean / Six Sigma certification
Understanding electro-mechanical engineering drawing requirements with the ability to identify inspection methods and required tooling
Supplier Quality experience
Experience with Government customers
