Evaluates, analyzes and records non-trade and employee activity to ensure proper financial reporting of income, expense and accrual information. Coordinates with internal and external customers to provide financial and account analysis for research and planning purposes.
Analyzes and records non trade transactions in SAP.
Coordinates with corporate and field personnel to ensure proper recording/classification of transactions in the financial statements.
Processes approved cost items for timely payment. Monitors status of open items and optimizes prompt payment discounts.
Establishes and maintains regular communication with vendors.
Reconciles vendor statements to Valero’s financial statements.
Assists or prepares accrual information for monthly accounting cycle.
Researches and reconciles assigned non-trade GL accounts.
Assists with the day-to-day accounting activities, which may include analyzing a variety of transactions, compiling data and providing a resolution to management and/or other internal/external customers.
Participates in various projects to improve overall department efficiency and effectiveness.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting preferred.
1 year of Accounting experience preferred.
Refinery or related experience preferred.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and ability to meet established department deadlines preferred.
Attention to detail, accuracy and confidentiality preferred.
Effective verbal, listening and written communication skills preferred.
Ability to work with others to accomplish assignments preferred.
Ability to read and interpret company policies, regulatory guidelines, and other work-related documentation preferred.
Basic understanding of general accounting principles and ability to apply in execution of job duties preferred.
Basic skill using Microsoft Office programs (i.e., Word and Excel) preferred.
Broad knowledge and understanding of PC/computers, data processing, and programming relating to the accounting functions preferred preferred.
