What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers’ Claim organization is at the heart of our business by providing peace of mind to our business customers during life’s rainy days. Our Forensic Accounting team within Claim, uses specialized knowledge and investigative skills to collect, analyze, and evaluate evidential matter and to interpret and communicate the findings in a courtroom, boardroom, or other legal or administrative venue. As the Forensic Accountant, Claim, you will quantify the financial aspects of customer claims. You will leverage your accounting background and storytelling ability to get to the bottom of fraud allegations and ensure all parties understand the evidence and its implications.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities

Analyze, review, and as needed reconstruct insured accounting records and financial statements for large property insurance claims.
Collaborate with claim professionals, insureds, finance, and outside accounting teams to quantify and evaluate damages or losses sustained.
Counsel field-based property insurance claim professionals on unique issues involved in particular claims.
Develop and present training materials to enhance the skills of property claim professionals in handling time element and fidelity insurance claims.
Assist in the management and evaluation of outside accountant resources, catastrophe losses, and communication efforts.
Participate in catastrophe response by providing monetary resource coordination, calculation service, expert review, training, and orientation.
Maintain an active Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.
Four years’ experience in a finance, accounting, or related role.
Active and valid CPA license.
Occasionally meet in person with claim professionals and business customers and have the ability to travel to these meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

Six years related experience in a finance or accounting role.
Certified Fraud Examiner and/or Certified Financial Forensics designations.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis concepts, principles, processes and applications with general knowledge of the property and casualty insurance business.
Advanced analytic skills with the ability to access and gather data and understand what the data represents.
General knowledge of accounting practices and principles with the ability to see the story numbers may tell and/or uncover what those numbers are trying to hide.
Advanced communication skills with the ability to present material concisely and clearly to varying audiences, and effectively influence business partners.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and follow through to ensure timely completion.
Strong problem solving skills with the ability to think strategically and make sound decisions with many competing factors involved.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Businesses preferred.
