Manager, Regulatory Compliance

Job Description

Manage the day-to-day activities related to Regulatory Compliance Imports, to include classify imported goods and to process import transactions.  

Develop training materials and conduct training sessions with team members in areas of Customs regulations, classification, and valuation.  

Communicate changes in regulations. 

Work with internal business units to establish procedures that properly represent vendor programs related import processes.

Alert the organization and internal business units to special areas of concern or to potential problems in the import process.

Performs external audits of brokerage activity related to import entries. 

Responds to inquiries from the internal business units and external governmental agencies.  

Conduct reviews and address issues raised by the international/foreign subsidiaries relating to regulatory compliance import matters.  

Serves as an in-house expert to address regulatory compliance import activities of domestic operations or foreign subsidiaries for the Americas.

This position is an individual contributing manager for imports, reporting to the Department Manager.

Classify imported goods and process import transactions

Implements policies, procedures, and training programs; maintains the accuracy of policies, procedures and training programs against regulatory changes.

Maintain a high level of expertise in all areas of U.S. Customs regulations, including customs clearance processes, classification and valuation

Performs periodic assessments of the distribution centers activities related to the handling of import shipments of products;

Maintain and keep current all customs compliance documentation;

Responsible for obtaining third party products classification, valuation, country of origin, and other government agency requirements;

Receive, review, and process high-volume and/or complex import transactions for an assigned vendor program, including the classification and valuation of goods

Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.

Assists in the preparation of responses to formal inquiries from governmental entities pertaining to import activities.

Interacts with senior management of domestic and foreign business units on matters related to investigations and audits.

Entry writing or perform other tasks or functions of other roles in the department

Work with other government agencies (OGA) as required and/or needed, including in the entry submission process

Ability to provide OGA’s with requested documentation

Experience:

3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience within Import Trade Compliance, to include all areas of U.S. Customs regulations, including customs clearance processes, classification and valuation.

Education & Certifications:

License Customs Broker preferred.  Bachelor's Degree preferred. 

Working Conditions:  

Remote; Occasional non-standard work hours to support global business as business requires.  Some travel may be required for subsidiary site audits.
