Job Summary
This Senior Design Engineer position will be responsible for collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop and deliver paint, graphics, and cosmetic components from concept to production. You will work with experienced design engineers, styling designers, manufacturing engineers, and product line managers as a team to successfully launch world class new and innovative paint designs each year across the Harley-Davidson motorcycle portfolio. Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate working knowledge and experience of new and changing technology through continuous learning to develop high quality paint and graphics designs and continuously improve processes. Ability to drive results with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Impact quality of their own work through effectively communicating complex information with stakeholders such as designers, detailers, technicians, and outside suppliers.
Solve engineering issues relating to quality, cost, and timing expectations by analyzing possible solutions using technical experience and judgement with a moderate level of guidance and direction.
Provide informal guidance to junior design engineer team members and delegate responsibilities to team members when appropriate.
Work effectively with cross functional teams and participate in time to market reduction initiatives by identifying, implementing, and measuring the results of paint product development techniques within the team.
Present design progress to cross-functional team through design reviews, facilitate design direction decisions amongst peers and leaders, and develop project development timelines.
Responsible for data management launch cycles including leading designer, detailer, and contracted resources.
Direct mockup motorcycle creation for design reviews and assessments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Required
Education Specifications
Requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical Degree.
Experience Requirements
Required
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
Demonstrated knowledge of engineering calculations, creative problem solving, and balancing design requirement priorities.
Experience with PLM data management tools.
Preferred
Motorcycle or automotive/vehicle experience.
Two years experience in CAD software, PTC tools preferred
Experience with vector graphics software.
