POSITION SUMMARY:
The sweater designer will assist to execute and design product on a global creative season direction and business needs under the guidance of the Senior Sweater Designer. Candidate will develop and produce sweaters as per product strategy for multiple businesses from concept through to bulk. Focus will be on menswear.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB:
Work with Senior Designer and design team to research; develop concepts, colors, yarns, and silhouette designs based on the global creative direction.
Proactively Research and identify trends and techniques that align with the Calvin Klein Aesthetic.
Exhibits flexibility to accommodate emerging opportunities in the business and areas of acceleration in the calendar.
Sketch all designs in illustrator and color CAD’s based on merchandising plan.
Knowledge of yarn sourcing and development on seasonal needs and price points.
Innovating yarn mixing, stitch development, modern approaches to knitting techniques and logo development.
Develop design detail pages with knitting instructions for garment development samples.
Participate and correct technical details/sketches from fittings.
Assembles and maintains presentation boards for meetings.
Organize and maintain design development including artwork, trims, yarn, knitdowns, and protos.
Manage and adhere to a Time In-Action Calendar.
Ability to work across multiple apparel seasons and divisions including Standards, Main line and Off price.
Daily maintain of PLM Centric system.
Needs to create strong cross functional and vendor relationships.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Experience:
3-5 years design experience in menswear sweaters and womenswear.
Familiarity with knitting techniques, yarns, and garment construction.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Fashion Design. Concentration in Sweaters.
Skills:
Excellent time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong eye for trends and current industry news/development
Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
Experience in Centric is a plus
Highly organized and detail oriented
Ability to handle multiple tasks/projects with adherence to deadlines
Must be flexible to adapt to changing trends of business and corporate strategy
