Telecom Wireless Structural Engineer

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Design structural systems of steel poles, concrete poles, and steel components including cabinets and concealment products for smart infrastructure for the telecom wireless industry.
Communicate with clients, engineers, and internal staff to compile requirements and develop solutions meeting the needs of the owners, end users, and direct customers.
Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and design requirements; primarily related to telecommunication applications.
Investigate and determine site specific jurisdiction and code requirements.
Coordinate timelines and milestones.

Required Skills:

High competency in structural design of steel and concrete, structural modeling, design codes, building codes, analysis software, and 3D modeling.
Licensed PE or SE with the ability to be registered in multiple states
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering
5 years’ experience in Structural design in Steel and Concrete
2 years’ experience in steel fabrication and concrete manufacturing
Preferred experience with telecommunication design with preferred knowledge of wireless telecom antennas, radios, cabling, and typical deployment modalities for small cell applications including 4G/5G design standards.

Experience and education in:

AISC Steel Construction Manual.
ACI 318 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete.
AASHTO Specifications for Structural Support of Highway Signs, Luminaires, and Traffic Signals.
ASCE 7 Minimum Design Load for Buildings and Other Structures.
Finite Element Modeling (ABAQUS or ANSYS preferred).
MathCAD.
Drafting and 3D Modeling (AutoCAD and Inventor preferred).
Microsoft Office.
GR-487 Generic Requirements for Electronic Equipment Cabinets. 
CFD/Thermal analysis.
TIA-222 Standard for Antennas and the Supporting Structures For Antennas And Small Wind Turbines
