Position Description
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES (include, but not limited to):
? Follow all Company rules, policies, procedures and requirements especially for: safety, quality, delivery and productivity/cost.
? Measure completed workpieces to verify conformance to specifications, using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers.
? Examine completed workpieces for defects, such as chipped edges or marred surfaces and sort defective pieces according to types of flaws.
? Read work orders, blueprints, production documents or other information to determine specifications, such as materials to be used, locations of cutting lines, or dimensions and tolerances.
? Responsible for checking parts / materials for accuracy ongoing and prior to completion of order.
? Load workpieces, material, or solutions into machines.
? Set up, operate, or tend variety of laser metal working machines (including laser CNC / Numerically Controlled Equipment) to cut, shear, slit, or punch metal material in accordance to standards and requirements.
? Start / operate machines, monitor their operations, and record operational data.
? Test and adjust machine speeds or actions, according to product specifications, using gauges, hand tools or machine controls.
? Install, align, set and lock specified fabrication components and fixtures in turrets and in rams or beds of machines, using gauges, templates, feelers, shims, and hand tools.
? Clean and lubricate machines.
? Position, align, and secure workpieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or on dies on order to produce parts meeting requirements.
? Able to count and stack parts / materials correctly prior to movement to next operation within department or to next department.
? Able to lift parts / materials or varying weights onto and out of work area(s)
? Assist other laser machine operators, other employees and train employees on job procedures.
? Use tools, equipment and technology, including hand or power tools, manufacturing/operations equipment and computerized or automated systems.
? Maintain work area(s) in a safe, clean and orderly fashion.
? Perform other duties, activities and responsibilities as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
? High school diploma or GED required.
? Previous laser or similar fabrication or machining work experience is required that demonstrates operation of metal working machines (including lasers, CNC / Numerically Controlled Equipment, etc.) to cut, shear, slit, or punch metal material.
? At least 2 years of work-related experience, (working in a manufacturing / production work environment, or machine shop.)
? Able read and interpret work instructions, blue prints, manufacturing drawings or similar information.
? Must be able to write legibly and demonstrate good communication skills.
