Job Description


Job Accountabilities

This position will work closely with the North American (NA) Food Division manufacturing facilities and/or Food Engineering Group to provide engineering support and help to implement production and manage the 2-Piece and 3-Piece food can and end processes with respect to the following:

*Provide support to all aspects of the steel and aluminum can forming process and operations
*Develop job completion schedules and monitor their progress
*Provide and coordinate appropriate training for plant personnel
*Provide support with the manufacturing and engineering managers to coach and train plant staff 
*Help to coordinate and support new equipment installation 
*Provide support to various tooling and line changes 
*Help in the facilitation of new product line trials 
*Provide operational troubleshooting and problem solving 
*Provide support for equipment design and product line design 
*Coordinate and take part in manufacturing audits 
*Provide appropriate customer support 
*Provide support in the budget and project costs process
 

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following:

*BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline
*1-5 years of experience in a manufacturing/process environment 
*Experience in a rigid packaging (preferably steel and/or aluminum) manufacturing environment would be ideal
*This position also requires strong computer and design skills as well as a proven track record in managing major projects simultaneously, both individually and in a team environment
*A certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, Master Black Belt) in Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing would be a plus
*Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization
*Thorough skill sets in all aspects of Microsoft Office are required


This “Seed” position will be used as a career development path for either plant management opportunities, engineering opportunities, commercial opportunities or other corporate areas within the Crown organization.  Initial assignments for this “Seed” position will be as follows: 

•    Initial assignment of eight to twelve months at either one of the eight NA Food manufacturing facilities
•    Eight (8) month assignment at the Massillon, OH or Owatonna, MN manufacturing facilities (supporting any number of the food can departments either in a manufacturing support or engineering support capacity)
•    Eight (8) month assignment in the NA Food Division Engineering Department (Travel 70-80%, working on various projects to support the NA Food Division locations)

A specific mentor would be assigned to this individual during each of the above assignments as well as a program mentor/coach that would support this individual through the duration of all of these assignments.  Along with this, the successful candidate will also be exposed to all of the key areas of the business including Quality, Technical Service, Sales & Commercial, Human Resources and Accounting/Finance.  After the completion of these rotational assignments, transition off of the “Seed Program” could occur to any of the manufacturing locations in the NA Food Division, or the Food Engineering Department.

A more detailed assignment/script will be created for each of the above assignments prior to making a final offer to a candidate.
