LOUIS, MO location the Agency and Product Safety Engineering Specialist will provide support across the Agency and Product Safety compliance functions of the Engineering department. 

AS AN AGENCY AND PRODUCT SAFETY ENGINEERING SPECIALIST, YOU WILL: 

Manage the agency product certification approval process and act as a liaison between Emerson Tool Company and the regulatory agencies such as UL/TUV/ETL
Lead agency projects under the guidance of the department manager.
Knowledgeable with interpreting North American agency safety standards and internal test procedures.
Conduct detailed construction reviews of existing and new products to ensure agency acceptance.
Interact with and support new product development teams to ensure the electro-mechanical design, components, and materials of products are suitable and documented as required for agency approval. 
Participate in new product design and product modification reviews.
Maintain existing product certifications through interaction with UL and other agencies.
Create and implement certification test plans in accordance with applicable agency standards.
Review and approve Quick Installation Guides, instruction manuals, and product warning labels with respect to agency standards and corporate requirements.
Prepare product test requests, determine test configurations, and provide guidance for laboratory technicians during test implementation.
Review lab test results, compile test reports and create the construction description for agency acceptance.
Create agency quotation requests for new projects by preparing redlined description(s), test plan(s), photos, and illustrations that will provide the agency engineer with the scope of the project for accuracy of the quotation.
Ensure that appropriate background information, such as previously approved model construction and agency requirements, have been researched and incorporated into new agency certification submittals.
Communicate weekly agency project status to the Department Manager.
Organize and maintain the agency electronic database files, as well as the hard copy files.
Maintain the product safety database of lawsuits, claims, and advisories.
Maintain Consumer Safety Product Commission Retailer report database and Epidemiologic Investigation Report files.
Maintain Product Safety and Agency exemplar inventory databases.
Maintain offsite storage of Product Safety exemplars, Authorization to Ship units claims units. And agency samples.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Requires the ability to devise new approaches and solutions to obtaining agency approvals and the ability to organize and lead approval projects.
Three years’ experience where a good working knowledge of agency approval and certification process has been obtained.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Legal authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
