PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Accounting Manager for various SPG Retail locations and SPG Investments within the Management Company Finance department. Responsibility for financial statement preparation, analytical reporting, forecasting and annual budgeting along with the supervision of staff.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Manage the month-end and year-end close processes for SPG Starbucks franchise locations and other investments including Solar, Hotels, emerging Franchise opportunities and other non-traditional businesses.
Review staff journal entries, reconciliations and financial statements for completeness and accuracy.
Prepare annual budget, as well as store level profit and cash flow forecasts.
Responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, and development of financial staff.
Support efforts to aid the Franchise Operations team to ensure communication between the back office and the stores remain consistent and productive.
Work closely with other departments to complete regulatory tasks (Property Tax, Legal, Treasury, Corp Tax, etc.).
Support the Franchise Operations team with ad hoc analysis related to new store opportunities.
Develop and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy and completeness of accounting records to help prevent fraud and to protect assets.
Administer Point-of-Sale reporting program systems (maintain control of access, inventory system, ensure accuracy of updates by outside vendor).
Act as a financial representative to third parties including banks, partners, and other vendors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
BS degree, with major or concentration in Accounting.
CPA preferred but not required.
5-7 years of relevant accounting experience in corporate environment or in public accounting.
Strong analytical ability and effective communication skills.
Attention to detail, being able to make sound decisions, and the ability to work within a team environment with deadline pressures are required.
Experience in the supervision of accounting personnel preferred.
