Job Description

Job Summary: The ATC supports the medical staff in providing care and comfort to infant, toddler, preschool,

school-age, adolescent, and young adult (up to 21) patients during outpatient clinics by performing routine clinical

tasks. Responsible for helping facilitate the flow of patients in the Ambulatory Center. The ATC will work under the

supervision of the physician, the Athletic Trainer will aid in quality orthopedic care and treatment of patients and

their families, as well as providing care under scope of practice.

Qualifications:

High school graduate (or equivalent) Required.

Bachelor’s degree in a Rehabilitative related field. Required.

Successful completion of an Athletic Training Degree with NATA Certification program. Required.             Experience in Orthopedics a plus.

Previous experience as a medical assistant (pediatric setting preferred)

BLS certified (or ability to be certified within 3 months) Required.

Computer proficiency required (Microsoft applications preferred);

Experience in or ability to learn the electronic medical record. Required.

Skills and Knowledge:

Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work successfully with colleagues, school administrators,

parents and physicians.

Effective time management skills.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Highly developed ability to work independently within a strong teamwork philosophy as well as collaboratively with

colleagues to achieve common goals.

Strong computer skills and a strong working knowledge of electronic medical record systems and Microsoft Office.

Demonstrated Athletic Trainer clinical competency.

Informed and committed to the work of Shriners Hospitals for Children, the Sports Health & Medicine Program and

all other services offered.

Comfortable working in a dynamic environment; adaptable to change.

Confident, professional, energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and ethical.

Bilingual Spanish speaking a plus.
