Job Summary: The LPN is accountable for providing care for pediatric patient's
ages infant to 21 years. Works as an advocate for patient and
families in a collaborative effort with the multidisciplinary team.
Works to achieve quality outcomes using a family centered care
philosophy. Performs professional nursing service for patients
under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and within the
scope, ethics, and standards of practice.
Performs routine and clinical tasks, obtains patient information,
removal of casts and assists with other minor outpatient
procedures. Takes measurements and vital sign of patients and
documents in the computer. Performs clerical tasks including
correspondence, appointment notices, coping, filing and other
duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school graduate (or equivalent)
LPN license in state of practice required
Experience in Orthopedics a plus.
Previous experience as a LPN (pediatric setting preferred)
BLS certified (or ability to be certified within 3 months)
Computer proficiency required (Microsoft applications preferred);
Experience in or ability to learn the electronic medical record.
Skills and Knowledge:
Knowledge of Basic anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology;
Common medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects,
and potential toxicity; Developmental stages infant through adolescent; Standard precautions of
infection control.
Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal communication and relationships with team;
Read, write and speak the English language and utilize medical terminology; Set priorities and organize
work accordingly; Accept direction and seek information as needed; Assist in moving patients, on feet
over extended periods; Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff; Evaluate changes in
patient's condition. Great customer service skills.
