Are you our next Geologist I,II or III?
Geologist at Mosaic perform a variety of vital tasks including; detailed logging of prospect drill core. Determine drilling depths and split out horizons based on lithology. Assure contract drill crews and equipment operates within Mosaic Safety guidelines / practices. Mine geology duties including ore control, ore grade / rock quality guidance and planning, cross-section development. Communicate pit conditions and ore control guidance both verbally and in written daily reports. Assist with drilling projects as needed for prospect definition and / or geotechnical data acquisition. Miscellaneous project work as may be required.
What will you do?
Log drill core from the prospect drilling program
Label and transport drill core to the core wash laboratory
Provide accurate records of drill data, and maintain the integrity of the core sample
Supervise and maintain safety of the contractor and Mosaic employees while working on or around the prospect drilling site
Maintain required safety record for the equipment and personnel under their control
Learn the duties of the ore control geologist
Prepare pit reports and communicate ore control information to mine management and operators
Special projects that might include drilling projects, hydro-geological assistance and/or rock quality analysis
Field duties include checking ore, providing guidance to operators and field supervision. Provide near term mining data related to rock quality / deposit characteristics for effective ore control
Attend meetings, safety support and safety compliance
Other technical, design or monitoring duties as directed including supporting geologic services staff as needed
What do you need for this role??
Bachelor’s degree in Geology or Geologic Engineering
Geologist I
1+ years of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Applications experience preferred
Geologist II
2+ years of Mining experience required.
Geologist III
5+ years of Mining experience required
Required for ALL Levels:
Proficient skills in word processing and spreadsheets
Ability to learn operations database applications
Ability to make presentations as needed
Working knowledge of GIS / CAD
Ability to work closely with all stakeholders to meet position goals and objectives
