About the Role

This Manager of Packaging Engineering will recommend, develop and engineer packaging systems for new product launches. You will report to the Executive Director of Package Development and Technical Services.

Responsibilities

Translate marketing conceptions into technically industrialized products
Partner with outside vendors and our teams to develop and engineer packages to ensure aesthetic, functional, cost, and timing goals are met
Coordinate development of specifications in PLM with suppliers to ensure functionality, aesthetics and transportation goals are met
Evaluate and distribute production standards for all new components to suppliers, fillers and quality assurance
Manage specifications and all technical milestones in project timelines
Assess and select packaging materials and processes
Lead packaging development tooling
Create appropriate packaging testing such as ship testing, compatibility and chemical resistance
Develop source documents such as feasibility costing sheets, package profiles, tooling and final package components specifications
Implement productivity opportunities in the existing product line
Attend line trials and over-see first production runs
Maintain a working knowledge of packaging and product innovation
Review and approve technical drawings and color submissions

Qualifications

8+ years of experience as a packaging engineer within cosmetics, personal care or consumer goods
Bachelor's degree in packaging, or equivalent technical degree such chemical or mechanical engineering
Experience working with plastics, glass, cartons, printing and decoration methods
Working knowledge of packaging regulations and requirements
An understanding of mold functionalities and molding processes
Experience working with the manufacturing, decorating techniques and functionality of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
Experience packaging projects, performing risk assessments and creating mitigation plans
Knowledge of finished goods manufacturing capabilities, supporting necessary line trials and how the component conception impacts efficiencies of the plant
Exposure to the cosmetics filling and manufacturing processes
