The Federal and International Tax Intern assists in the preparation of income tax returns for U.S. and non-U.S. entities. He/She reviews the U.S. GAAP trial balance of various U.S. and non-U.S. entities and ensures the information is properly reported on the U.S. return. The Intern may contact accounting and finance personnel in the U.S. and outside the U.S. to resolve issues with information provided. He/She assists with the preparation of forms for tax compliance to fulfill federal income tax return requirements by U.S. Tax authorities. The Intern may support the tax accounting provision reporting process and assist with other projects as needed.
Responsibilities and Duties
Reviews journal entries to verifies proper Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and tax treatment for transactions
Researches federal statutes and regulations as it pertains to UPS business for proper tax treatment
Knowledge and Skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills with proficiency in accounting
Ability to pick up software applications easily
Proactive and a self-starter
Experience using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access software - Preferred
Experience manipulating data or with data mining - Preferred
Available to work a minimum of 30 to 40 hours per week - Preferred
Majoring in Accounting or Finance, or recently graduated with a related degree - Preferred
