What’s a typical day for a senior accounts payable supervisor?  You’ll be:

Overseeing a team of 8 employees/contractors in a fast-paced and high-volume work environment
Supervising the processing of vendor payments, employee expense reimbursements, vendor maintenance functions, and miscellaneous invoicing x-bill issuance , as well as administering the company s purchasing card program
Continuously monitoring and updating accounts payable processes to protect the company from fraud and reduce cybersecurity risks, and works with the compliance team to maintain Sarbanes Oxley requirements and documentation
Overseeing the timely and accurate issuance of 1099s to comply with governmental sales and use tax reporting requirements
Interviewing, hiring, and training employees in the various systems used by accounts payable; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Managing the daily processing of vendor invoices, ensuring that they are processed timely, accurately and in compliance with all internal controls applicable to the accounts payable functions, including complete and accurate application of sales and use taxes for multiple jurisdictions
Ensuring that daily integrations from the multiple payable source systems interface into Workday and manage the correction of any interface errors with the ERP team
Managing the supplier database process within Workday, to include reviewing and approving additions and updates, ensuring changes are in compliance with all applicable internal controls and that all required vendor information is obtained and documented timely and accurately in Workday
Managing the daily processing of purchasing orders as well as coordinating with Purchasing, Port Engineers and Accounting to resolve outstanding purchasing orders
Managing the corporate employee expense program, to include reviewing the processing of expense reports submitted by employees to ensure compliance with the corporate travel policy; develop and maintain training material for new travelers or other employees who will be submitting reimbursement requests in Workday
Maintaining and managing the process to track authorized approvers of company cost centers, obtaining necessary documentation and approvals as well as coordinating with management and IT to ensure the list of authorized approvers is properly reflected in the Workday Approval Matrix
Reconciling various general ledger accounts, updating and maintaining SOX narratives and controls, routinely working with IT to develop new reports, controls or processes within
Handling vendor escalations from team members
Monitoring workflow approval process to prevent payment delays
Assisting with implementation of process improvements
Assisting with annual performance review process including review discussions with team members

Qualifications:

Five years of strong accounts payable experience, including supervisory responsibilities
Bachelor’s degree in business related field is preferred, or the equivalent in experience and other training
Problem-solving, critical thinking skills with the ability to research and analyze data
Demonstrate proven leadership skills 
Excellent Communication and interpersonal skills, with strong written and verbal skills
Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, including senior executives
Must be goal driven and self- motivated
Ability to respond and act on company objectives and initiatives         
Possess strong knowledge of Accounting/ERP systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and Word), Purchase Order systems and scanning software
High degree of professionalism and comfort working with external & internal customers
Ability to work outside normal schedule when necessary to reach goals and /or deadlines.
