Job Description Summary:

Maxim is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Director to work at our corporate headquarters in San Jose. This position will manage others at remote sites around the country and throughout the world at Maxim’s many manufacturing facilities. This person will be responsible for planning, hiring, assessing, and implementing environmental health and safety policies throughout the company.

Job Description:

Responsibilities and Duties include but not limited to:

Monitoring of federal, state and local regulations that pertain to personnel safety, hazardous waste management, wastewater, storm water, hazardous materials transportation, air quality, etc.
Interpreting environmental and safety regulatory requirements, determining applicability to semiconductor operations and implementing practices to comply.
Translating environmental requirements into business risk mitigation plans, activities, and financial impacts.
Implementation and maintenance of sustainability programs, including tracking of sustainability metrics.
Producing and maintaining required regulatory reports, data, and permit applications.
Implementation of environmental and safety policies and processes.
Making regular status reports to senior management.
Conducting various environmental and safety training classes.
Risk Management Program experience.
Experience with managing multiple site ISO14001 programs.
Experience with ISO 45001 certification obtainment and program management.
Experience with GHG tracking and reporting.
Experience with Carbon Disclosure Reporting (CDP) and completing customer requests pertaining to sustainability and EHS reporting.
Managing hazardous waste programs.
Experience with managing Air Compliance Programs.
Performing various and frequent environmental, health and safety inspections.
Working with various departments regarding equipment installations, contractor activities, training, and documentation.
Interfacing with regulatory agencies, preparing all required documentation, scheduling, and performing all required testing and providing additional documentation as required.
Conducting ergonomic assessments and implementing corrective/preventive actions.
Investigating potential hazards, near misses, accidents, injuries, and illnesses and implementing engineering practices focused on corrective and preventive actions, familiar with 8D process.
Ensuring continuous improvement of the company’s safety performance and overall safety culture via frequent interaction with site leaders and the continuous roll-out of new and effective safety programs designed to maintain employee awareness and engagement.
Experience with industrial hygiene monitoring and communicating the results and action plans.
Effectively managing contractors and consultants working on EHS-related tasks and programs.
Overseeing a corporate-wide EHS Team in ensure integration and corporate-wide standards and benchmarks.
Responding quickly to new threats like COVID-19 or natural disasters worldwide.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in environmental or safety engineering, engineering, or related discipline.
Minimum of 20 years of combined experience in environmental and safety compliance.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing EHS professionals at offsite locations.
Experience in facility operations and semiconductor industry.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong proficiency in English.
Ability to be cross-functional.
Knowledge of risk assessment and mitigation.
Ability to train and educate groups as well as individuals. 
Proficiency in MS Office applications (word, excel, power point and access).
Good computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in EXCEL, WORD, Power Point and MS Project.
Must have good people skills, be able to multi-task and enjoy working in a fast-paced, fluid environment.
Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision
