Job Summary
ExxonMobil Chemical Company has a laboratory technologist position available within the Fractionaltion Lab of the Advanced Characterization Department (ACD) in Baytown TX. The successful candidate will join the department and support polymer research and development. Job responsibilities will include providing material fractionated results to a variety of customers while maintaining high quality and safety standards.
Primary Job Functions
Analyze routine Polymer samples in accordance with written procedures and non-routine samples for method development
Calibrate instruments
Maintain equipment and lab
Provide timely & accurate information & status updates to supervisor and researchers
Write Standard Operating Procedures and familiarity with lab quality-control procedures
Work in a team environment while independently preparing samples and executing data acquisition protocols
Job Requirements
Analytical lab experience - particularly (but not necessarily) in TREF/CRYSTAF, CFC, HPLC, preparitive separations of polymers, GPC and GC; experience with wet chemistry operations (e.g., filtration, Soxhlet, rotavapor, etc)
Experience with common Microsoft workstation sotware (e.g., Excel, Word); some programming experience in scientific computing environments (e.g., MATLAB) preferred
Good analytical and writing skills
Good communication and organization skills
Capable of adapting to changing priorities
Well-organized and ability to work under pressure in fluid situations
Good teamwork and collaborates with others in achieving a common goal
Bachelor's degree (minimum), preferably Master's degree, in Polymer Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related STEM field
