YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Platform Engineering Lead, are to:

Be a member of a Software Product Development Leadership Team (Reporting to Systems Lead);
Be responsible for leading up to (five direct, five contract, three External Vendors) professionals with diverse professional and academic backgrounds (Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree, Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Engineering and Data Science;
Lead software project teams in a domain/platform area across multiple world regions;
Address effectively employee-related issues of a routine nature through utilization of internal resources;
Be responsible for career development of entry and Mid-level engineering team members and mentoring individuals through technical challenges;
Be accountable to deliver new technologies and software solutions, unavailable commercially, for Research and Development (R&D), Market Development and Production Research and Pre-Foundation;
Be accountable for leading the creation of company intellectual property;
Be accountable to identify, evaluate, develop and implement software-based solutions to business problems;
Be responsible for collaboration with external vendors to build technical knowledge base and adapt commercial capability for research;
Be accountable to provide technical know-how and resources for key R&D pipeline initiatives to drive innovation within field, lab and seed research processes;
Be accountable for create and manage schedule, budget and performance/quality metrics for portfolio projects;
Lead projects collaboratively with other Bayer organizations;
Be responsible for projects inside a platform portfolio from technical discovery, requirements, design and production system delivery;
Analyze key parameters of performance including intellectual property distinction, impact with partners, schedule compliance, scope compliance and cost control;
Be involved in serving as a project lead for a team of software engineers and problem solving decisions on a daily basis;
Ensure full end to end engineered software system - taking a systems approach from client, server, interface, data, analysis;
Create Idea and alternative solutions to problems, handles complex problems collaboratively;
Demonstrate strong technical expertise and ability to adapt to changing circumstances with flexibility;
Apply state-of-the-art know-how and new technologies to solve complex problems with creativity;
Ensure the proper application of standard, guidelines and best practices especially related to system design, documentation, testing, delivery and maintenance;
Identify customer’s requirements;
Champion and enforce standards and best practices and identify deviations when required;
Ensure the IP creation and protection for properties created by AE;
Have experience in one or more of the following software process, engineering, software engineering leadership, product development, product management and project management.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree with at least eight years of relevant industry experience or Master’s degree with at least six years of relevant industry experience or Ph.D. with at least four years of relevant industry experience;
Ability to lead a cross-functional team and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously;
Strong knowledge of and experience demonstrating project control skills including project planning, scheduling, cost control and requirements development;
Experience with technical project development – design, research, analysis and methodology;
Organizational and interpersonal skills to collaborate with people at different levels of management, engineering, Information Technology and customers;
Effectively lead a technical team;
Have experience in one or more of the following software process, engineering, software engineering leadership, product development, product management and project management;
Familiarity with Software Development Lifecycle.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in agricultural field testing.
