Under the direction of the Biomedical Engineering Manager, the Biomedical Equipment Technician is responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of medical equipment, to include anesthesia machines, x-ray equipment, patient monitoring and diagnostic equipment. In addition to this, the Biomedical Equipment Tech is also responsible for some non-medical equipment such as pagers and telephones. All systems are to be maintained in a timely manner in accordance with department and hospital policies and procedures. The Biomedical Equipment Tech is also responsible for ordering parts, conducting in-service training for operators and to act as a technical resource to hospital staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent. Associates Degree in Biomedical Technology or related field preferred.

Minimum Experience: Two (2) years of biomedical equipment technician experience through a formal hospital program or recognized manufacturers program.

Req. Certification/Licensure: AAMI (Assoc. of the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation) certification preferred.

From the day it opened as an eight-bed clinic in 1925, Southern California Hospital at Culver City (SCH-CC) has dedicated itself to providing quality care to the culturally diverse populations of the Culver City and West Los Angeles communities. SCH-CC is part of the Southern California Healthcare System, which includes Southern California Hospital at Hollywood and Southern California Hospital at Van Nuys. Now at 420 beds, SCH-CC is a general acute care hospital that utilizes many of the latest medical treatments and technologies.
