Job Description

We are a global group of energy and petrochemical companies with expertise in the exploration, production, refining and marketing of oil and natural gas, and the manufacturing and marketing of chemicals.  With more than 80,000 employees in more than 70 countries, we use advanced technologies and take an innovative approach to help build a sustainable energy future.

Our operations are divided into our businesses: Upstream, Integrated Gas and Renewables and Energy Solutions (formerly New Energies), and Downstream. Our Projects & Technology organisation manages the delivery of Shell’s major projects and drives our research and innovation.

Our Purpose

Shell's purpose is to power progress together with more and cleaner energy solutions. We believe that rising standards of living for a growing global population are likely to continue to drive demand for energy, including oil and gas, for years to come. At the same time, the need to tackle climate change means there is a global transition under way to a low-carbon energy system.

Our People

Our people are essential to the successful delivery of the Shell strategy and to sustaining business performance over the long term. Performing competitively in the evolving energy landscape requires competent and empowered people working safely together across Shell.

Shell in the US

Shell has been in the US for more than 100 years, leading the sector in energy, petrochemicals and refined products.  Today, we provide millions of Americans with the energy needed to heat and cool their homes and power the economy.

We operate in all 50 states, from our Deep Water platforms in the Gulf of Mexico to the Pennsylvania Chemicals complex and our miles of pipelines throughout the US.

We reach our customers through our 13,000 branded retail stations, and we are number 1 in gasoline sales. We also own the #1 brand of motor oil in the U.S. – Pennzoil® – made from natural gas.

We are excited to play a key role in the move to net carbon emissions while providing the oil and gas needed by society for many decades to come.

Every barrel of oil or molecule of gas produced by Shell today was at one point an exploration discovery made by us or others.

We explore because it is the most important way to organically replenish our oil and gas portfolio, bringing cost effective and resilient projects online.

“Exploration focuses on continuously strengthening the Conventional Exploration portfolio, rapidly and safely de-risking through early seismic, drilling and appraising in both the newly captured ventures and in our heartlands. Effective hydrocarbon management is essential and seamless teamwork with development teams around the globe enables us to move discoveries to commercialisation, providing Shell with the organic growth to fuel our strategic themes in the decades to come.”

- Marc Gerrits, Executive Vice President Exploration and Global Functional Head of Exploration
