About this role



What will you be responsible for?

* Lead the regional accounting and reporting team, including site accounting, GL accounting and operational accounting activities for assigned region.
* Effectively handle the regional accounting teams to provide effective and seamless support for the relevant Regional Chief Financial Officer (RCFO) and Site Business Managers.
* Provide the overall governance, standards and technical accounting mentorship supporting project services and regional accounting and reporting teams.
* Deliver timely and accurate internal financial reporting to management that supports the development and successful execution of the Companys business strategy.
* Safeguard company assets and reduce the risk of financial reporting errors through the effective execution of internal controls over financial reporting.
* Meet all regulatory, internal and external financial reporting requirements in a timely, relevant, and accurate manner.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

* We lead the development, maintenance and delivery of financial and operational reporting that provides regional management and other users with the information vital to supervise, lead and control the business on a site and regional basis.
* We are responsible for implementing the Companys Accounting Requirements and Procedures (ARPs) for the region to ensure consistent, accurate and timely financial reporting and safeguarding of assets.
* We deliver timely, accurate and business relevant support to the RCFO, Site Business Managers and Americas Regional Controller for sophisticated, unusual or strategic transactions.
* We are responsible for crafting and maintaining effective relationships with key partners in the regional leadership teams, projects teams, business planning teams and Corporate Accounting and Reporting teams.
* We deliver timely, accurate and business relevant operational and technical accounting support to key partners, including Regional and Site Operations and Finance teams, Business Planning, Tax, Treasury and Corporate Development for sophisticated, unusual or strategic transactions.
* We support the completion and timely filing of SEC and other required external financial reporting documents in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
* We handle and effectively support the activities of external and internal auditors for the region.
* We are responsible for providing required support for the development, implementation and maintenance of information systems and processes that support critical accounting and reporting activities, including (but not limited to) inventory and NRV accounting, reclamation and closure accounting, global standardized reports for management reporting, and project accounting activities.
* We serve as the subject-matter-expert for SAP and BPC master data and reporting hierarchy changes for the region in coordination with the Master Data team and the Finance Global Business Process Owner.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!

* Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required, Masters degree preferred.
* CPA license, Active status preferred.
* Ten to fifteen years of accounting and financial reporting experience.
* Five to eight years of mining proven experience.
* Leadership and management experience in a global/remote environment required.
* Ability to mentor, coach and direct workgroups by establishing stretch goals for development of staff and promotion of business growth within the region.
* Analytical attitude with strong financial and operational analytical skills.
* Ability to influence and motivate change in the organization.
* Broad business knowledge and focus, ability to recognize issues, problems and capitalize on opportunities.

Where you will be located!

* The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
* Telephone calls before and/or after normal business hours are required.
* Position will be required to travel to operational locations as part of their primary responsibilities outlined above

The salary range offered for this role is $127,360 to 167,160. The salary range is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. The salary offer will not be based on a candidates salary history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about salary history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont.

This role will be eligible for participation in a discretionary annual bonus program, pursuant to which an employee may be awarded a percentage of their salary based on the companys performance and their own individual performance. This role also will be eligible for participation in a discretionary long-term incentive program, pursuant to which an employee may receive awards based on their level and individual performance.
