The Internal Communications team is an integral part of the Group Benefits Marketing department, supporting our broader organization through activities specific to the line of business that drive employee engagement and business results. The Senior Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for successful planning, development and execution of communications strategies. This role will own the writing and delivery of clearly crafted materials that inform, educate, align and engage our leaders, managers and employees. Communications may include blog posts, articles, presentations, video, and podcasts, which will be distributed via our intranet, email, and events. Responsibilities may also include partnering with Marketing team members to create communications geared toward external audiences.

Responsibilities

* Written Communications Planning/Development - Provide strong internal communications leadership for complex initiatives that impact the broader Group Benefits organization, The Hartford, and even external audiences. Content includes, but not limited to: FAQs, Talking Points, Internally facing blogs and articles, presentation creation/support and podcast/interview scripts.
* Content Management Create and manage digital content on The Hartfords intranet, performing required site builds and on-demand updates when requested by business partners
* Leader Communications Support Provide Group Benefits leadership with research, talk tracks and presentation support aimed toward engaging and informing internal audiences on our vision, critical business updates and wins that showcase our success.
* Digital Communications Planning/Development Provide upon-request support to creation of content geared toward external audiences by partnering with Marketing and other teams within our line of business. Content includes, but not limited to articles, flyers, presentations, social media posts to be showcased to The Hartfords external audiences.

Qualifications:

* 1+ year of experience in corporate communications or related field, such as marketing, journalism or public relations.
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Proven excellent writing and editing ability; social media experience a plus.
* Proven client credibility and ability to work with employees at all levels/functions in the organization.
* Experience developing communications strategies, plans, and tools for a wide variety of employee and executive audiences at all levels and functions.
* Strong relationship management skills: ability to foster collaboration, value other perspectives and gain support/buy-in from business partners and cross-functional matrix teams.
* Ability to manage several complex initiatives simultaneously.
* A self-starter who takes the initiative to identify needs and then develops realistic and creative solutions.
* Strong negotiation, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
* Strong project management and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience in insurance writing is preferred
* Experience within insurance industry and financial services important; experience working with group insurance products preferred.
