Franklin Mutual Advisers (FMA) is an investment advisory unit of Franklin Templeton managing in excess of %2435 billion across a variety of mutual funds and other investment vehicles. Since its inception in 1949, FMA has consistently employed a bottom-up investment philosophy, focused on identifying companies trading at significant discounts to what we believe to be their intrinsic value. Portfolio managers and analysts are opportunistic in their search for investment ideas, conducting rigorous, fundamental analysis on any company that meets our criteria, without regard to benchmark, sector, industry, currency, or market capitalization weighting. In addition to undervalued common stocks, we select investments in distressed debt securities and merger arbitrage. FMA has always incorporated a focus on ESG factors which are deemed material to the situation, but our implicit consideration of ESG factors has evolved into explicitly demonstrating how ESG actually factored into our research process. We are looking to take our incorporation of ESG principles to the next level and are seeking an exceptional individual to guide our overall ESG strategy, more deeply integrate ESG into our fundamental research process and develop and hone processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
The ESG Analyst will be embedded inside the Investment team and work directly with fundamental sector analysts and portfolio managers. Prior ESG experience at either at a sell-side or buy-side shop is strongly preferred, but great communication and interpersonal skills are more important, as is an ability to understand and augment our unique investment philosophy. Franklin Templeton Investments has grown from being recognized as one of the best small companies in America to being considered a premier global investment management organization. We offer clients a valuable perspective shaped by our seven decades of experience, investment expertise and growing global reach. The company was founded in 1947 in New York by Rupert H. Johnson, Sr., who ran a successful retail brokerage firm from an office on Wall Street. He named the company for US founding father Benjamin Franklin because Franklin epitomized the ideas of frugality and prudence when it came to saving and investing. The company's first line of mutual funds, Franklin Custodian Funds, was a series of conservatively managed equity and bond funds designed to appeal to most investors.
We have the strength that comes with size. And the insight that comes from seven decades of investing experience.
We maintain a long-term perspective in everything we do and run our business with the same level of discipline we apply to asset management. As a result, our credit ratings are among the highest in the industry.
Our business is diversified by client type and geography. In fact, over 50% of our sales are derived from outside the U.S4. We also maintain substantial liquid cash and investments which give us the flexibility to invest in ongoing innovation for our customers.
We believe these characteristics make us an ideal long-term partner in asset management.
Our strategies are managed by specialized investment teams comprised of more than 600 investment experts around the globe1. These teams are supported by an independent risk management group to ensure investment risks are optimized – not simply minimized.
