This Software Engineer III opportunity is a part of the Materials and Structural Analysis Division located in Hillsboro, OR. We provide highly innovative solutions for electron microscopy in scientific and industrial lab environments. Our Hillsboro site produces world class electron microscope systems and core technology used by scientists and engineers to drive innovation around the globe. Our products have been instrumental in Nobel prize winning discoveries, have been highlighted by National Geographic, and were awarded Gold at the Edison awards.

You will be working in the newly created Digital Transformation team that is part of our global software R&D department with colleagues across the USA, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and France in an agile team (growing to 15 people). The Digital Transformation team aims to bring digital technology into our products, solutions and services, enabling connectivity, data extraction and analysis and software distribution.

What will you do?
You will be part of an exciting mission to change the way how we do business and to help science progress through the unimaginable power of data.
In this role you will:

* Design and develop the Digital Transformation building blocks
* Collaborate with the software engineers across the organization (roughly 500 people), finding best practices and assisting to integrate our deliverables
* Work in a distributed software environment, combining different programming languages and new technologies and using professional development tools (e.g. git/Jira)

How will you get here?
Education/ Experience

* Bachelor2019s degree with a minimum 5 years; or Master2019s degree with 3 years of relevant experience in a complex software environment
* Preferred degrees should be in Software Engineering, Mathematics or related technical discipline
* Must bring a pragmatic attitude as well as agile knowledge and experience
* Possess good communication skills in English (also tailored to non-native speakers)
* Team player with a proactive mindset
* Knowledge of C++, C and (preferably) microservices development
