As the Electrical Engineer, you will provide engineering and technical support services associated with the design, construction, and operation of CenterPoint Energy's underground distribution facilities in coordination with the overhead system.
Specifically, you'll have the opportunity to:
* Review and analyze customer submitted site plans, electric one-lines, schematics, and load analysis.
* Design underground facilities for electric service.
* Prepare cost estimates and Terms & Conditions packages for electric service to customers.
* Inspect customer required construction to approve/disapprove.
* Prepare work orders, easement documents, agreement letters and operational agreements.
* Perform cable pull analysis, protective device coordination studies, motor start and fault current calculations.
* Interpret and apply applicable codes and standards (i.e. National Electric Safety Code, National Electric Code, etc.).
* Support the construction, operations, and maintenance of the distribution system through communication with field personnel and customers.
* Gather and analyze data, perform engineering studies, prepare written reports, give oral presentations related to distribution systems.
* Prepare new or revise engineering/technical specifications.
* Manage multiple projects involving customers, contractors, and internal departments.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Requires a minimum of two years of electric utility or power engineering experience that includes performing engineering calculations and design.
Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
Able to use a CAD equipment and software programs to provide project documentation, relay settings, event analysis, equipment commissioning, and anagement reports
Able to to use SAP, GIS, Microstation for technical engineering applications.
