The Chevron Lubricants Laboratory Services organization in Richmond, CA is posting an entry-level laboratory technician position. The open position is with the Blending and Technical Services Team (BTS). The Laboratory Services organization is a customer-focused service group that performs bench-scale blending and testing of lubricants in support of product development, technical services, and research & development activities conducted by Chevron Lubricants and Oronite Additives.
The open position is part of a team that is focused on delivering timely, precise, and flexible laboratory services to its customers while maintaining operations that reflect a true safety first environment that meets Chevrons high standards for Operational Excellence. Product lines supported include automotive passenger car and heavy duty engine oils, industrial oils, gear oils, greases, and transmission fluids. Training will be provided for specific functions associated with the position. Work involves handling finished lubricants, base oils, and solvents (PPE provided/required).
Required Qualifications:
* High school diploma (or equivalent).
* 1+ years experience working in a laboratory or similar technical environment.
* Candidate must be detail oriented, have the ability to follow processes and procedures implicitly, possess laboratory skills such as precision weighing and measuring, have glassware handling experience, and demonstrate operational discipline in the conduct of their work.
* Computer (PC) skills; experience creating spreadsheets and reports on a personal computer. Knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook.
* Ability to perform detail oriented, mistake-free work.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
* Excellent teamwork skills.
* Excellent safe work history / strong safe work ethic.
* Work schedule is 40 hours/week (Monday - Friday). 9/80 schedule available. Occasional overtime / weekend work required.
* This is a safety-sensitive position and requires enrollment in a random drug and alcohol-screening program.
Preferred Qualifications:
* AS / BS degree, formal training in chemistry, biology, or other science.
* Experience working in a laboratory or similar technical environment.
* Experience monitoring and adjusting process control systems.
* Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma fundamentals.
