Job Description

Ingredion is hiring a Manager, Business Development, Plant-Based Protein, to drive growth of our PBP portfolio, understand value propositions of the companys specialty plant based proteins, identify target customers , partner with the sales team to develop and qualify targets and grow revenue with identified target customers. The primary responsibility of this position will be to drive PBP sales development and related commercial business opportunity pipeline with existing and new customers to drive commercial results.

As Manager, Business Development, Plant-Based Protein, your responsibilities will include:

* Spearhead sales development (opportunity development and execution) of PBP value-added solutions to regional account customers and prospects, including effective introduction of new products, technologies and processes, to obtain new business in support of US/CAN PBP platform.
* Identify and research new/ under-served customers in collaboration with the sales-team and create new opportunities with these customers with the goal of increasing revenue and/or the size of the commercial opportunity pipeline
* Where appropriate, directly manage account relationships in alignment with or under direction of Ingredion sales management
* Explore customer needs and new markets to generate value for the customer and the company.
* Partner with functional teams (including sales, technical, platform and segment marketing,) to build and execute against PBP strategic growth initiatives for regional customers and prospects. Identify customer/markets needs i.e. innovation opportunities. Work with platform marketing or R&D, ensure they are translated into new product development opportunities where appropriate. Hunt for new opportunities to enable the launch of new products and services
* Lead business development discussions, with customer/prospects R&D, technology/innovation, marketing groups or procurement as needed, to establish projects/opportunities, in conjunctions with the account teams where they exist.
* Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the PBP market and the competitive environment to facilitate business development efforts. Pro-actively provide market and competitive intelligence to appropriate internal teams.
* Support the sales team with a high-level understanding of the PBP portfolio, its value propositions and available resources.
* Function as a subject matter expert; be the lead for new product and technology launches in customer meetings and events.
* Ensure close alignment with PBP platform team with regards to business plans, including campaigns and market development opportunities.
* Network at industry events to build knowledge and identify new prospects and lead the follow up of trade show leads applicable their segment of territory.

Qualified Candidates will have:

* Bachelors Degree in food science or other relevant scientific, engineering, or business discipline.
* Significant direct and practical customer-facing business development, sales, marketing and/or technical experience in food or specialty ingredients.
* Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written, gravitas and relationship building capabilities. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills required.
* Working knowledge of food and related industries product development and sales cycles.
* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
* Must possess the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all internal and external stakeholders.
* Available to travel domestically approximately 30%. Close proximity to major airport is preferred.
