Summary

Lear Corporation is looking for an experience Materials Manager to join our growing team in the Traverse City progressive stamping and plastic injection molding manufacturing plant. The Materials Manager will be responsible for the materials management function relating to the planning, procurement, storage, controlling, logistics and distribution of materials and products to meet Company objectives and customer requirements.

Essential Functions:

* Plan and supervise the work of employees engaged in reviewing bills of material and sales order releases to determine material and parts requirements for manufacturing projects.
* Coordinate receipt and flow of material relative to schedules, monitor progress of shipments and submit periodic and special reports to management on material status.
* Supervise employees engaged in receiving, handling, storing, packaging, and shipping of parts and supplies.
* Implement and manage effective systems and processes for shop floor scheduling and materials replenishment planning which optimize press utilization and setup reduction
* Analyze Customer release data to identify potential current and future constraints
* Preparation and issuance of local purchase orders (QAD) and maintenance of the associated supplier price lists (QAD).
* Understand and adhere to Lears internal audit requirements which will also result in compliance with external Sarbanes-Oxley, TS16949 and ISO14001 demands.
* Supervise employees conducting periodic physical inventories, maintain files of shipping instructions, import and export regulations and tariff controls, and assure that all receiving, disbursement and shipping operations are fully documented.
* Ensure compliance and pursue optimization of corporate purchasing initiatives.
* Explain company policies and regulations to subordinates, maintain effective personnel relationships and recommend hire, promotion, transfer or other change in status of employees supervised.
* Ensure commitment to Quality Policy and Continuous Improvement throughout the materials department.
* Support and directly enforce H&S policies, procedures and rules, including helping to meet H&S goals and objectives.
* Manage Premium Freight with a zero-tolerance mindset driving all associated costs back to the source while adhering to the Corporate Premium Transportation Authorization procedure

Requirements / Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field.
* 5 years of Materials Management experience in the automotive industry
* Requires broad knowledge of material control, purchasing, and production control, theory and practice, including storage and inventory procedures, traffic and shipping regulations
* Familiarity with industrial organization, manufacturing processes and quality control methods
* Experience working with QAD preferred
* Proven Communication, Organizational, and Leadership
