Corporate Controllers Accounting Operations and Reporting - Senior Associate
The candidate will report directly to the head of the Financial Reporting team within the Accounting Operations & Reporting division of New York Lifes Corporate Controllers Department.
Responsibilities include:
* Coordinate, compile and assist with the review of the annual audited GAAP and statutory financial statements for NYL, NYLIAC and NYLAZ
* Coordinate and assist with the review of the annual proforma GAAP and statutory proforma financial statements
* Update and complete the GAAP and statutory disclosure checklists for each company
* Create and coordinate the GAAP and statutory disclosure checklists
* Coordinate and compile the financial information for New York Lifes Annual Report, Report to Policy Owners and earnings release
* Create the financial statement variance analysis for each audited financial statement
* Develop and maintain Corporate Controllers Reporting Library in Office 365 SharePoint
* Review and coordinate submissions and certifications for Accounting Changes, Summary of Unadjusted Differences, Loans, Commitments and Guarantees
* Proactively identify opportunities to continuously improve processes
Qualifications of a Successful Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree with emphasis or concentration in Accounting
* Strong financial statement analysis skills
* Working knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP) and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and disclosure requirements
* Ability to build and lead cross-functional/departmental teams
* Strong communication skills
* Strong understanding of General Ledger systems (SAP a plus) and other accounting software
* Continuous Improvement mindset
* Strong leadership and collaboration skills
* Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SharePoint 356
* 7 plus years relative accounting experience
* CPA or MBA preferred
