The Azure Networking team continues to innovate across the stack, pushing new scale and features into the cloud and desktop platforms while transforming our infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the 200-plus Microsoft online services, including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and several hundred thousand customers using Azure to host and run their Cloud Services in over 100 datacenters, running millions of servers and edge computing nodes all over the world. Our teams work on the breadth of networking offerings (Networking hardware, optical and IP networks that span subsea, terrestrial and metro fiber, Hybrid services enabling VPN and MPLS connectivity from customers on premise network to our cloud, Edge services enabling optimized peering and routing, SDN products to enable customers to run their on-premise services in the cloud with Vnet, Load Balancer, Security Groups and Services, Application Gateways, Virtual Appliances to easily mimic on-premise architectures, and DNS services to reach and traffic manage services.
The Azure Front Door group, within Azure Networking, delivers a geographically-distributed internet-facing set of services that provide acceleration, caching and highly customizable traffic processing. This is an all-encompassing charter that includes the building of Content Delivery Network (CDN), Dynamic Site Acceleration (DSA), Audio Video streaming acceleration, advanced load balancing & rapid failover, Web Application Firewall (WAF), and many other cool technologies. Azure Front Door enables our customers to take a simple backend HTTP application and expose it to the world such that the app has global footprint, low-latency, high-throughput, super-scale, fault-tolerance, security, easy management, and reduced load on the customer backend. Azure Front Door accelerates some of the largest services in the world (e.g., Bing, Outlook, Windows Update, etc).
You will be responsible for developing and operating the traffic processing core. You will write and operate code that is super-scale but lightweight, low-level but maintainable, and efficient but reliable. You will design and implement rich features while optimizing compute and memory overhead, pushing gigabits of throughput, and thousands of requests per second.
