Are you interested in working in a Microsoft team that builds a platform that is both one of the largest distributed systems and one of the largest ML systems? Bing Platform manages such a system to power the Bing search engine and many Microsoft internal partners. We have been very successful in building efficient large scale distributed system for search. With the advancement in hardware machines are becoming more powerful. How to fully utilize machine resources is becoming a bigger challenge. The agility of engineering and deployment is also a big challenge when handling such a complex system. As Bing becomes more intelligent, the need for a platform to build up AI intelligence is becoming bigger.
The ML and Experimentation Platform team is part of Bing Platform. We are building a system for ML, which is an edge cutting Machine Learning platform to power ML scientists to conduct high quality and agile data engineering and ML/DL model training tasks. This ML platform also manages the full life cycle of data and DL/ML models in production (from experimentation to shipping to model auto retrain to model retiring). We are building more AutoML capabilities into this ML system. We are also working on ML for system, which is to apply ML/DL (from boosted decisions trees to deep Reinforcement Learning) methods into resolving system optimization problems in the very large-scale distributed system.
The team culture values engineering quality, technical excellence, and grass roots innovation. We foster a supportive and productive work environment to provide growth avenues for each team member.
As a senior software engineer in the ML and Experimentation Platform team, you will work by yourself or with other engineers to design and implement features and tools to enrich and improve the ML and Experimentation platform for more ML powers, more agility, and more efficiency. You will also need to work closely with machine learning scientist team to build an E2E machine learning process including data engineering, model training, model deployment, automation and AutoML. You will also have opportunities to design and train ML models to resolve system optimization problems in the large scale distributed search system.
